More durable items can be shipped in standard corrugated cardboard boxes. For the most protection, make sure the boxes are new or have retained their sturdiness, avoid loose space inside the boxes, secure well with packing tape, and label them clearly.

Common questions about LTL

Can an importer take delivery of goods without original bill of lading?

All shipments require a Bill of Lading. BOLs must be issued for goods to travel from Point A to Point B.

What if there is no bill of lading?

A letter from the shipper should be prepared detailing that the bill of lading was lost. The carrier will typically need a letter of indemnity from the shipper, which releases the carrier from liability.

Can a bill of lading have two consignee?

There are many kinds of BOLs that have different terms in the contract and are used in different shipping scenarios.
