Yellow’s Equipment May Be Sold Off by Auction Houses

November 7, 2023

Since its collapse, Yellow's equipment has been auctioned off to trucking companies globally.

A motion before the court named Nations Capital, Ritchie Brothers and IronPlanet to sell the Yellow's fleet of more than 60,000 units, roughly 12,000 tractors and 35,000 trailers. The filing said the auction houses were best suited to remove, refurbish and market the assets. Estes Express Lines’ won $1.525 million stalking horse bid for Yellow’s 174 owned terminals allowed for 30 days of free storage, which was valued at more than $10 million.

The filings noted more than 150 parties have signed confidentiality agreements, specifically expressing interest in the company’s equipment. Past reports suggested the company’s rolling stock could fetch as much as $900 million.
