When shipping your products as LTL (less-than-truckload), you’ll have to assign your shipment a freight code. This is a standardized code made by the National Motor Freight and Traffic Association which allows carriers to identify qualities of the shipment and assist with transportation.
Does not apply on articles of gold, sterling silver or other precious metals or articles with sterling silver parts such as covers, backs, frames, handles or tops, but not including articles with small silver ornaments. Does not apply on antiques, articles of antiquity, museum exhibits, original works of art, or works of art reproduced from an original in limited quantities and so authenticated by the artist (limited editions). viz.: Carvings, wood, NOI, also in crates; Curios, Figures, Images, Ornaments, Sculpture or Statuary, NOI, Does not apply on inflatable or air-supported promotional or advertising figures or images. Decorations, Notions or Novelties, NOI; Decorations or Ornaments, Christmas tree or holiday, NOI, Ornaments exceeding 21/4 inches in diameter, or Christmas-tree-top ornaments, must be in inner cartons made of fiberboard or paperboard not less than 0.030 inch thick. Ornaments not exceeding 21/4 inches in diameter, other than Christmas-tree-top ornaments, must be in inner cartons made of fiberboard or paperboard not less than 0.026 inch thick. Cartons for ornaments other than Christmas-tree-top ornaments must be equipped with fiberboard or paperboard interlocking honeycomb partitions having extended tips so as to provide not less than 1/2-inch clearance from side walls of carton; or must be equipped with flanged top and bottom trays of fiberboard or paperboard die-cut to accommodate each ornament and maintain not less than 1/2-inch clearance from side walls of box. Partition or tray material must be not less than 0.033 inch thick. Cartons for Christmas-tree-top ornaments must be equipped with die-cut fiberboard or paperboard suspension forms of material not less than 0.033 inch thick, arranged to maintain not less than 1/2-inch clearance between ornaments and all inside surfaces of carton. Inner cartons must be packed on ends or sides within the outer shipping box.
