Subclasses for
The National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) annually publishes a list of freight class designations, codes, and subclasses for commonly shipped items (https://classit.nmfta.org/). CWT stands for hundredweight. LTL shipments are priced “per 100 pounds,” “cwt,” or “per hundredweight.” This means that a 400 lb shipment priced at $25 CWT would cost $100, not including accessories or specialty services.
NMFC stand for National Motor Freight Classification. This is a classification system used for interstate, intrastate, and foreign commerce movement of LTL shipments. You can learn more on our freight classes pages.
